I haven’t seen Larry since childhood. We lived on the same street and all of the neighborhood kids , including Larry , would play football on an empty corner lot. When not playing football, Larry and some of his buddies would play in my yard, lifting rocks to find snakes sending me screaming! I am so saddened to hear of his loss, and I am sending condolences to his family. Keeping fond memories will help throughout these difficult times. Prayers and love!

I was shocked and sadden today after hearing about Mr. Winborne passing. After taking the place of their former nurse Mrs. Hudson this was my first job as a LPN. We started at Fairview Clinic then moved to Surgical and Medical Associates of Hattiesburg. I worked Mr. Winborne and Dr. Kate Aseme for over 10yrs. Mr. Winborne was the office manager. As I knew him he was always humble, meek, and mild just a laid back kind of guy. I enjoyed working for them over the years and grew to have much love for them. My prayer for Dr. Aseme, his children, grandchildren and family is to lean and depend upon Jesus. God bless!

May you find strength in knowing that Mr. Winborne is resting from his labor and remembering how you blessed me with my first job at the pharmacy.

With a heavy heart I was sadden by the passing of Larry. Larry and I were next door neighbors growing up in Plymouth, NC, childhood friends, school mates from elementary school through high school. Larry, Melvin Hines and I were roommates at Elizabeth City State University. He was a very personal, caring and sharing person. While in college he received weekly spending money from his mother, Mrs. Inez Winborne. Melvin and I were less fortunate. We would go to the mailbox with him as if the mail were for us. Jokingly he would tell us “he smelled poverty or just call him Mr. Rockefeller”. We did not care about the joking because we knew of the five dollars that he received; he was going to share with us a dollar each. That is the type of guy he was. I will keep the all the laughs we shared and thoughts of him in my heart forever.

I was sadden to get a message that my friend Larry, "Bone" as we called him passed this week. Larry, his closest friend Raymond Hines and I grew up in Plymouth, NC. Together we navigated elementary school, attended high school together, and attended Elizabeth City State College (University). Our goal was to finish college in four years without summer school, and we did it. Larry loved sports and he excelled in football in high school. I cringed at playing defense against him because friend, or no friend, his goal was to score. I still have memories of the bruises resulting from Larry running over me.
Larry had a warm and caring personality. He was full of fun, loved adventure, and got along with everyone. He was admired.
For the entire Winborne family I wish to express my deepest sympathy. I trust that your journey through this time will be comforted by knowing that there are many of Larry's friends from Plymouth, NC who thought highly of him. He is at peace and I shall never forget him.

With Sympathy,
Dr. Melvin Hines
